  5. Cross-country skiing –- 850 calories/hour
  6. Running up stairs – 819 calories/hour
  7. Vigorous rowing – 810 calories/hour
  8. Kickboxing – 769 calories/hour
  9. A game of basketball – 728 calories/hour
  10. Elliptical trainer – 720 calories/hour
  11. Rollerblading – 683 calories/hour
  12. High-impact aerobics – 664 calories/hour
  13. Ice skating – 637 calories/hour
  14. Running & Jogging 5 mph – 555 calories/hour
  15. Water skiing – 546 calories/hour
  16. Light or moderate lap swimming – 528 calories/hour
  17. Cycling – 508 calories/hour
  18. Water aerobics – 501 calories/hour

Notice that right at the bottom comes walking. That’s a real shame for me because I love walking, but it’s just not that effective compared with the others (but still a lot better than no exercise at all).
