Like potatoes described on the previous page, tomatoes are such a popular and widely eaten vegetable (or fruit?) that including it in a list of toxic foods seems at first sight to be quite ridiculous.
Eaten properly ripened and in reasonable quantities, tomatoes are safe enough (although they can be quite acidic and eating them raw in large amounts can lead to stomach upset)
Green tomatoes and the stems and leaves of the plant contain excessive quantities of tomatine, a chemical that is not good for the body. So if you love your green tomato chutney, then perhaps consider easing back on it.
